Ryan K. Peterson, O.D.
Dr. Peterson, a true Las Vegas native, graduated from Bonanza High School in 1992, then UNLV in 2000 with a degree in Biology. He then graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2005. His research at school emphasized on the relationship between lens blur and visual acuity. Dr. Peterson's lucky enough to be married to his wife, Kimberly, and they are blessed with three children: Kate (5), Jack (3), and Rock (2). Kim has a GREAT blog at: http://www.parentingbookbybook.blogspot.com/ check it out!
Dr. Peterson’s special interests are working in primary eyecare (including dry eyes and diabetes), children, and contact lenses. Dr. Peterson’s community involvement includes serving the eye health needs of those enrolled in the Las Vegas Rescue Mission addiction recovery program and the Lion's Club. Dr. Peterson is also currently in his second year of serving on the Board of Directors of the Nevada Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Dr. Peterson is active in the American Optometric Association, the Nevada Optometric Association, and his church affiliation.
Dr. Peterson started working with Cyndi at New Outlook Optical (the Rainbow office) when he graduated from optometry school in 2005. He made the jump to his other location, in Green Valley, in February on 2006. He mainly splits his time mainly between the two offices.
He quickly got bored because there wasn't enough to do with being married to his dream girl, having children, running two optometry clinics, working with JDRF and his church so he decided to also provide services at the Las Vegas Paiute Nation eye clinic downtown. Although this is mostly so he has an excuse to have a pork taco every Monday at Los Tacos. They're that good. It has been his pleasure to provide for the eye care services of such an interesting and great population.
You can follow him on Twitter at "rpetersonod" where he will periodically update patients with eye information and goings on of the practice.
